Vice President / Director of Planning

Bruce Richards joined the firm in 1999, and has over 30 years of wide-ranging planning experience, including over 25 years with N-Y. His experience includes land use and master planning, urban and regional planning, neighborhood planning, transportation planning, and environmental (NEPA) documents. Mr. Richard’s is responsible for managing all of the firm’s planning and environmental projects.

While with N-Y Associates, Mr. Richards managed the planning of the Desire Master Plan for the Housing Authority of New Orleans, which transformed a former public housing project into a new neighborhood designed under the tenets of Traditional Neighborhood Design (TND) and New Urbanism. He also led two award-winning land use projects: the Bucktown Neighborhood Plan in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, and the West End Redevelopment Plan which straddles the boundary between the City of New Orleans and unincorporated Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. He has managed over a dozen transportation NEPA documents for the LADOTD and the New Orleans Regional Planning Commission. Mr. Richards also has extensive experience in public involvement and outreach since this is a key component of nearly every project he has led. He is proficient in working with multi-disciplined teams consisting of engineers, architects, planners and economists.
